Introduction to Moustaches
During the one hundred years of its existence, the Royal Air Force has always offered a wide range of jobs and careers. The most obvious group are the aircrew comprising pilots and weapons systems operators. And air operations support which includes air traffic controllers, flight operations officers, cartographers and battle managers And then there’s intelligence - officers, analysts and photographers The logistics operation covers supply, storage and distribution specialists, drivers, catering and hospitality specialists and chefs Vital to the operation is medical support Roles here include nurses, doctors, pharmacy technicians, environmental health technicians, radiographers, biomedical scientists, medics and paramedics As with any large organisation there is a need for personnel support Human resources, training, legal, media operations, physical training, chaplains, and musicians Then there’s force protection, which means firefighters, the RAF police, and the RAF Regiment And finally technical and engineering where you find all the people who keep the equipment and infrastructure running smoothly |

Moustaches! But it’s not all about pilots! Well of course, there’s aircrew That’s pilots! with and without moustaches Flying jets, transport aircraft, helicopters And the Red Arrows And air operations support. Air Traffic Controllers, Flight Operations Officers Cartographers .. That’s maps and charts Battle Managers And there’s Intelligence Speaking about intelligence I’m sure they are intelligent We’re sure they are intelligent We’re sure Officers, Analysts, Photographers No need for any Choreographers I’m sure that there’s no doubt They know what they’re about Logistics and other jobs abound for men and for women, so we’re found And most of them never leave the ground They need to be around Speaking about intelligence, etc. They are irreplaceable, that truth is inescapable Agile, adaptable and capable These words say it all We asked people, “What does the RAF mean to you?” And they answered: Courage, Bravery, Respected, Vital, And moustaches Note: ‘Agile, adaptable and capable’ is a strap line used by the RAF |
